PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS, AND EXPECTATIONS:
- Eligible Borrower: You must be a Hawaii County resident, at least 18 years old, lost income due to COVID, meet ALICE income requirements, and have NOT received an emergency grant for COVID to qualify
- Purpose: This emergency loan is funded by the County of Hawaii to help you get money now to pay for past due rent or first month's rent/deposit.
- Maximum Loan Amount: $5,000
- Interest Rate: 6% APR
- You will be required to pay interest-only payments starting immediately and pay principal and interest payments to Hawaii Community Lending after 6 months
- Financial Counseling: Required at loan closing
Documentation Required:
- Letter from employer verifying you have been laid off or lost hours at work
OR
- Copy of unemployment insurance approval letter or most recent paystub
- Copy of last two months bank statements (if self-employed ONLY)
- Copy of signed rental lease agreement or mortgage statement
- Past due rent notice (if applicable)
- Copy of Picture ID
- Copy of Social Security Card
